ATTENTION!!!
There is no longer a "next Sunday" posting deadline. You can grab your camera, take your photo, and post it in this thread any time you wish to.
Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Cowley Cemetery, Oct 29, 2018Today, my wife and I went to our summer place to rake leaves, check trail cameras and generally check the place over. About 10 km away is this "old" community cemetery ... old by our standards. The cemetery is 3 km NNW of Cowley, Alberta. (BTW, our home is 110 km ENE of Cowley.) The cemetery is still used and there are recent graves. There are a handful of tombstones dating back to the 1920s and 1930s for people who were born in the 1860s. These people almost certainly would have been born in Europe as this area was only settled in the late 1800s and there were very few people in the area. Here are some historical photos of the village. Now I am not planning to be buried in a grave, but if I change my mind (or someone changes it for me), this would be my resting place of choice. It is a free and open space with non stop wind and you can "see for days" here. To those who have passed before us, rest in peace. Clive

This picture is of the Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene, Oregon, which I then added a texture and color-processed. The cemetery was founded in 1872 and is the largest in both acreage and burials in Eugene. This picture is of the twenty-five-foot statue of a Union soldier in the center of the Grand Army of the Republic burial plot.

As if I needed encouragement for a graveyard walk! Thanks Sepiana!! Bill, beautiful image! It looks so ethereal. Great composition (natural framing of the subject) and tonal range.

You picked the perfect texture for this jewel.

The gateway to the Easton Cemetery was erected in 1882. Pete, great composition -- our eyes are drawn through the gates to the graveyard. Colorful and sharp image!

When the forces were marching past the cenotaph in London last Sunday, the commentator remarked that if the servicemen, and women, who lost their lives in the two world wars were placed like that - four abreast - then the line would stretch from London to Newcastle . . . . 276 miles. That is a lot of lost lives.

Dennis, great shot! Getting us close to the tombstones, the light in the background. Well done!
