Last night I started our "travelling" laptop for the first time in nearly 12 months in preparation for our 8 week trip to China next week.
The last thing I needed was any problems with the laptop but a big one popped up
Windows 10 being Windows 10, the first thing it did was update itself to the latest update. The update worked fine without any issues but when I opened up PSE 14 on the laptop, that is when I got a nasty surprise. I am sure this issue has popped up before with Win 10 users, but running Windows 7 on my desktop I haven't seen it.
I opened an image in the PSE editor and tried to File->Save As to see if everything still works. Unfortunately it didn't. I got an error message saying there isn't enough RAM to complete the task. I tried smaller images, still no luck. I then tried to Edit->Preferences->Performance and got a message saying "An integer between 50 and 8 is required, nearest integer inserted". Now I really started scratching my head while mumbling a few choice words since Mrs. B was nearby.
I reset the preference files but still no luck. I then reluctantly unregistered my PSE, deleted it from the laptop and did a clean re-install. Still no change!!!!!
This when I resorted to Google for help. In hindsight I should have Googled the symptoms first and saved a lot of time .
Luckily I quickly stumbled across this quick and easy solution which solved my PSE issue and PSE 14 is now running happily again on my laptop.

Basically it involves adding a new entry into the Windows registry. The instructions are clear and with only a few steps.
Hopefully this might help someone else who might run into the same symptoms.
