When Transparency Matters

Question:

How do I create a transparent text, i.e., one which will allow the solid color of the background to be visible?

Answer:

1. Choose the color White for your text.
2. Add a Bevel layer style; adjust its size if needed.
3. Change the layer blending mode to Multiply.

NOTE:

This transparent effect works best with bold, simple (not elaborate) fonts such as the one in the screenshot below (Impact Regular).
