The subject is................Show Your Work(SYW) vs Individual User Gallery(IUG). I'm confused on just what you,,,,,,,,,,,, the (Admin/Mods), are asking for here. My take on this would be that SYW would be akin to a "Before and After" scenario but it appears to be being used as a place where a person want's to just bring attention to a recent photo. This is fine if that is the intent. I'd like to hear what you(admin) really wants in this Category/Sub Forum? Now lets look at IUG,,,,, is this intended to be a Gallery of only photos posted on this forum or a collection of a members past and present images that he /she may want to share? I'm not trying to stir the pot just trying to keep the soup from burning. dick

Now that you've mentioned this ... yes, at the moment it seems to be that some post their work/photos in both Show Your Work and Gallery.
Personally, I think I'd like to see Show Your Work to include the 'Before' and 'After' image, with a description as to what has been done/used to achieve the final image. That would, to me, show how it's changed the photo, (something I find difficult to see quite often) and how it's been achieved (thus giving some ideas/help to those who need to learn etc.
I presumed the Individual Gallery was for individuals' personal photos and work only.

Dick,
I think if you look at the descriptions underneath the main board headings you might get more of an idea about what the difference is meant to be.
Show Your Work - For getting feedback on your photography & digital editing.
Individual User Gallery - A place for forum members to showcase their work in their individual gallery.
And then there is also a 'share your work' option in Digital Scrapbooking.
And don't forget 'Our Flickr Group' at the top of the page!!
Personally, if I wanted a critique or to show a Before & After image I would put it in Show Your Work.

Right on, looks like the 3 of us are on the same page. I personally don't like some of the online storage areas as they are to public. I like "tinypic" as it is a one on one kinda thing meaning you can't see what I have stored there until I want you too. It's not that I have any images to hide it's that I want them available for viewing at my say so,,,,,,does that make any sense?
BTW you have to populate tinypic the same way, one at a time,it's not that bad tho once you get used to it.

I'm confused. In the FAQ of 'tinypic' one of the questions asked is 'Can I make my images private? and the answer given is 'Currently all images uploaded are public. If you would like better control over your images, we recommend using Photobucket. This seems to be the opposite of what you suggest dicklaxt. Am I missing something here?

Hi BJ, the way I see that is if you go to tinypic.com and try to do anything you must be a tinypic member, then to get into my gallery you need to know my e mail address and password and enter them to open and view my gallery images. I just tried it by making my wife a member and no matter what I did I couldn't see my tinypic images.
If some one knows different please speakup I don't want to mislead anyone.

We are putting our heads together and will be posting a note soon. thanks again for being an active and responsible member of this community!

Ah Dick I think that's the answer to my confusion. One can use tinypic without joining or registering but you are a member which allows you access to more options such as privacy. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were misleading anyone, it's me that didn't understand but its all clear now. Thank you.

We have just posted a thread clarifying the guidelines for posting to the Show Your Work board. Hopefully this will avoid any future confusion. Please take a minute to read it.
