I appreciate all the entries that have been submitted and have enjoyed viewing each and every one. As usual choosing just 3 is so difficult. In the order they were uploaded in the thread here is my final choice. Helen’s ‘All Boy’ – How like a boy, or should I say a child, because I know some little girls who would just love splashing in that puddle too or could it be I’m thinking of myself when I was that age! He is soaking and loving it. A moment in time captured - such fun. i.ibb.co/frQyVpg/DSC3568-BW-copy-4-copy.jpg Berie’s ‘Butterfly’ – Caught my eye right away. It is so beautifully presented and looks to me to resemble a print on linen. Lovely work. i.ibb.co/JKND6CW/Butterfly-1.jpg Angelag – ‘Finn Slough’ – I love the tones of this quiet and serene image. It’s one of those images that draw you in to wondering about the life and people behind the scene. i.ibb.co/GxqRk49/IMG-4783.jpgI really wish I could have chosen more.

I agree with Lillias. Very difficult to select only three. I was born opposite a cemetery, but that doesn't mean I like them. I was immediately drawn to this picture taken by Frank. It may just be my imagination, but I think it has a great 3d effect. I don't know if it was taken in daylight, but this effect is brilliant. It seems to be a full moon, and the way it shines on the trees is fantastic. This one from Clive really made me smile. I am not sure if the swan is tripping - or having a slide on the ice. I would love to have this hung on my wall, Clive, it would cheer up every day for me. Except for the cold weather of course. You were certainly in the right place, at the right time, to get the shot. I do not know the location of Alexr's photo. But I would certainly love to visit there. That is spellbinding. The colours, amazing.

In order of posting, here are three images that caught my eye. Tpgettys This is just appealing to me and has a very Oriental feel to it reminding me of Chinese silk paintings we bought in Beijing in 2002. Lovely colors and patterns. kathylee Although I would have done two things differently, the shot through the covered bridge is well composed, framed with nice lines and colors. I would crop it a bit tighter and also bring out some details inside the darkened bridge interior. angelag A warm, tranquil scene with an "old school" feel. Well composed and appealing subject. The WB seems 'off' but I like it.

It's definitely a little weird following Clive as I have chosen the same three pictures! I was intrigued with Tom's image as soon as I saw it....and for much the same reasons that Clive pointed out. It has the look of a beautiful piece of fabric that I could see being used as a scarf. i.ibb.co/MCPPy6f/Creation-2019-10-05-093243.jpgLoved the way Kathylee took her picture from inside the bridge.....agree with Clive's points about the crop and shadows. i.ibb.co/WGQT1QY/800-2019102008503.jpgI like the nostalgic feel of Angela's image. I think it would make a beautiful painting as well......lovely tones and setting. i.ibb.co/GxqRk49/IMG-4783.jpg

i.ibb.co/frQyVpg/DSC3568-BW-copy-4-copy.jpgAll Boy. . . by HMCA Heartwarming – A great shot to process as a B&W as it adds to the nostalgic feeling the scene brings to mind. The composition and lighting draws the eye to the subject and then to his reflection. Great processing from tone to contrast on this one. i.ibb.co/WGQT1QY/800-2019102008503.jpgCovered bridge by kathylee Beautiful – The colorful background is framed as only a covered bridge can, bringing with it the relaxing feeling of a leisurely autumn walk or country drive. Clive’s suggestions are spot on and I think would add much to this beautiful shot. i.ibb.co/GxqRk49/IMG-4783.jpgFinn Slough by angelag Stunning – The colors, tone, slight haze and the elements captured in this composition drew me right in . . . just need a bench and some time to sit and admire it all.

I hope I'm not too late to name my favourites: Helen's "All Boy" epitomises childhood explorations--"what will happen if I walk in this puddle?" I enjoy the colour and the texture of Blackmutt's tulips. Images like this will sustain me through the winter, and Kathylee's covered bridge invites me to marvel at the colours of the trees.

I'll come back with my thoughts on my favourites shortly, but just to answer whippet 's question, my image was taken in the Özkonak Underground City in Cappadocia, central Turkey. Assumedly this 10-storey (although only 4-stories currently accessible to the public) complex was built by early Christians fleeing and hiding from the Romans. It was indeed fascinating and worth a visit if you are ever passing that part of the world. But thanks for selecting it; the lighting was as it was, just cleaned up a little.

Thank you hmca, dandc and Pontiac1940 for including my picture in your favorites. Thank you also for the constructive advice, I am always wanting to improve my photography and it helps to get feedback like that. I really did not see that option, I just liked what I had. Hmmm lots to learn!!!!

My selected 3 are: Tpgettys Stylised Image i.ibb.co/MCPPy6f/Creation-2019-10-05-093243.jpgFor me, I thought of William Morris, and instantly tried to find repeating patterns as if it were wallpaper, but it wasn't, it is a standalone piece of beautiful artwork. I love how the three flowers arc through the image and the leaves knit it all together. blackmutt Boat Jacks i.ibb.co/KsPjn08/edited-3-4.jpgI love the apparent simplicity, but then the 'what on earth...?' question. I love how it mirrors a bunch of flowers yet is still grimy and industrial in keeping with their purpose. pontiac1940 Tundra Swan i.ibb.co/kBstCgT/tundra-swan-CAS00152.jpgCaptured a perfect moment in time, makes me smile as it appears to me as if it is a drunken stumble; just how I would walk after a few beers on a sheet of ice. And it is processed excellently too, great composition and lovely use of a square vignette.

Very difficult to choose only three. Not in any particular order I like the color combination and the unique effect that seems both complex and simple at the same time. i.ibb.co/fNKCgVs/Creation.jpgA very creative Christmas card. I like the texture and the overlay of the music. i.ibb.co/sHbgcSR/edited-2-5.jpgThis photo tells such a fun story and brings back pleasant childhood memories. Black and white makes the viewer focus on the main subject of the photo without being distracted by colors. It also creates a timeless quality of the subject matter. i.ibb.co/QcTwTTg/DSC3568-BW-copy-4-copy.jpg
