Use DNG tool or Upgrade ?

Morning,
I use a Sony A58 camera & also using Elements 9
I am unable to open Raw images in Elements.
I have found that the plug in installed is version 6.5
Also on this group i have found that i need verion 7.4 but elements 9 i believe does not support this.

I have the DNG tool version 7.4.0.137 because i am unableto download version 8.1 as nothing happens when clicking on Download.

Can you advise a working open for DNG 8.1 please.

Are my best options to upgrade to later Elements ?

Hi ipbr21054,

Your signature shows you have Windows 7 32-bit. Are you still using this Windows version? I'm not sure DNG 8.1 will work on a 32-bit OS. I would suggest you check with Adobe.

As to upgrading your version of Elements, you need to keep this in mind . . .

No. Microsoft and Apple stopped supporting 32-bit systems before Photoshop Elements 2020 was released, so the product can only be installed on 64-bit systems.

Hello ipbr21054. I am not sure if the latest version of Adobe DNG converter can be installed on 32 bit windows 7.

You could try. If it will not install, you could see if you can install an older 32 bit version of the DNG converter which might be able to read your camera's raw files. You can download older versions here.

Another option would be to use the Sony software that came with your camera (or download it from Sony) to process the raw files and convert to tiff or jpg.

If all else fails you will only be able to use the jpg files from your camera.

The information on the official Adobe page states . . .

System requirements

Windows 10 (version 1809 or later)

Source:  Adobe DNG Converter 13.0

BTW, I'm not sure ipbr21054 is still following this thread. He mentioned in another thread that he upgraded to PSE 12 (a 32-bit app on Windows). This version gets shipped with ACR 8.1 (updated to 8.5). Support for his camera, Sony A58, was introduced back in ACR 7.4 (PSE 11).
