Going through my photos recently I noticed how many of them were of doors. I thought they might make a good subject for the next B/W Challenge, so that is what we'll be working on this month. I am including a few from my archives. Looking for some additional source to add to my post I came across the work of Keith Dotson. I noticed that he usually cropped in close to the subject while I often added some of the surrounds for context. As a result I chose a closer crop on some of the images below. What determines how you crop your door might make for some interesting discussion. I also liked that he included keys and knockers so feel free to add images of them as well. The B&W Challenge does not require you to take new photos. You are welcome to include some from your archives as well as doors that you might shoot specifically for this challenge. Hope you have fun with this topic.

Thank you, Karen.....as did you. I am especially drawn to the character in old wooden doors.

Good timing Helen ... I found these just a couple hours after the theme announcement. Clatskanie, Oregon. Edits in ACR and Photoshop.

Little different perspective on the theme. Enter at your own risk! ;-)

So it seems I wasn't the only one out shooting for this theme today. I wasn't able to park anywhere near the door I wanted so took some at a church in the same area. While this church is really all about the color it works in B/W as well I think. And one from around the back.

Stretching the definition of door - the entrance to a Neolithic tomb originally constructed around 3600 BC. Just seemed right to convert to black and white. It's called Wayland's Smithy and definitely an eerie place (lived near by at one time so know it well). Tony

Read this before I logged on.......a history that is so hard to comprehend. Interesting addition to the thread.
