I have a new laptop on order. I have purchased Elements 2021 upgrade.
I will retained the same partition layout on the new laptop as my old machine i.e. the image files will be on H: drive. The catalog.pse17db and thumb.5.cache in G:\User\Photoshop Elements Catalogs\Main Catalog. The .exe files in C:\Program Files\Adobe\
I have the download of 2019 in my G: drive. I assume I load Elements 2021 into the new machine and when asked for the upgrade validation I point to the 2019 download?
There will be full backups of all partitions before the new machine is introduced.
Will this ensure that 2021 will pickup the catalog.pse17db and related files so on opening 2021 I will be ready to go?
Any advice welcomed.

When you install 2021 you are not upgrading but installing a new program. So that might affect your thinking. Clive

I have 11 versions installed. Whenever I get a new version, the "validation" Adobe requests is the serial number. How to activate Elements
