This log cabin is on the West side of Merrimac Road, on Merrimac Hill, overlooking Cudler Creek. This log cabin is quite rare in that is has true dovetail notches on the logs. The logs are dovetailed in both directions; a feat quite difficult for even an accomplished woodworker; these joints are not going to pull apart. Often, a structure that boasts of having dovetail notched logs, the logs are only dovetailed in one direction; a much easier cut to make. This photo was taken from a team-wagon behind mule team Jenn and Jude; they hail from Sonora, Kentucky. 2018 Merrimac Mule Day Merrimac Road North-Eastern Taylor County At the confluence of Taylor, Marion, and Casey Counties 05-August-2018

Especially like this last one, BuckSkin. Have you thought of creating a gallery with some of your special images?

This impressive Federal style brick house is on the West side of KY Hwy 163, between Magnolia and 4th, in Tompkinsville. There is a bronze plaque on the wall, but I cannot make out what it says. Although a bit ornate, I decided it was more Federal than anything else; if anyone knows just what style it is, please enlighten me. This old house is on the West side of KY Hwy 619/Bernard Ridge, located between Lucenda Cemetery Road to the North and Half Acre Road to the South. The house fronts on Half Acre Road; this is the back side. 37° 01' 24.07" North Latitude 85° 02' 8.53" West Longitude Elevation: 1,028' I am standing in crawdaddy ground, next to the truck I am driving and on the opposite side of the road. I was using a little Canon S90 pocket camera else I would have cropped in closer. Bernard Ridge/KY Hwy 619 Russell County - Kentucky Thursday_16-December-2021

Is anyone still living there? Is that roof on the ground a bunker entrance?

Is anyone still living there? Is that roof on the ground a bunker entrance? Yes, that is actually better than a lot of places people around here live in; there are lots of old ragged house-trailers around here that aren't fit for a dog to live in and people are lined up waiting to rent one. I can't believe they qualify for whatever program it is where the government pays your rent, HUD I think it is. Don't forget this is Kentucky, the most poverty stricken place on the planet. I think that roof is what is left of a collapsed smokehouse.

This grand old house is located on Highland CR60/Stringtown Road, between CR145 and CR141. I want to call this house a Federal house; however, I am uncertain whether the hip roof and wrap-around porch would be considered of the Federal style. 39° 04' 7.91" North Latitude 83° 46' 15.49" West Longitude Elevation: 993' Photo Taken through the glass of a Moving Vehicle CR60/Stringtown Road Mowrystown, Ohio Highland County Sunday_19-December-2021 Please excuse the poor quality of the close crops; a filthy windshield and moving vehicle do not make for optical clarity and image quality; I included them to better exhibit the detail of the house. I don't know what kind of Yeti or Big Foot, or Abominable Snowman I have captured; I did not see him until I cropped in close.

This Federal Brick is located in the South/West corner of CR147/Ridge Road and CR29/South Sanders Road --- at least I think it is a Federal; if it is something else, please correct me. 39° 04' 27.18" North Latitude 83° 42' 11.77" West Longitude Elevation: 1,017' Photo Taken through the glass of a Moving Vehicle CR29/South Sanders Road Mowrystown, Ohio Highland County Sunday_19-December-2021

This farmstead is located on the East side of US Hwy 62, just North of the Brown County line. Although US Hwy 62 is an East/West route, for many miles after crossing the Ohio River, it runs almost straight North; map East would be considered route-wise as being the South side of US Hwy 62. Note the bay-window style protrusion on the South/West corner. 39° 01' 33.77" North Latitude 83° 42' 17.65" West Longitude Elevation: 1,059' Photo Taken through the glass of a Moving Vehicle Eastbound US Hwy 62 Mowrystown, Ohio Highland County Sunday_19-December-2021

I really enjoy seeing your additions to this thread, Buckskin.......but there's part of me that often wants to get rid of what I see as distractions but I'm thinking you see as part of the story.

This two-story weatherboard house is located on the South side of US Hwy 62, in the sharp curve just East of The Old "Y" I see quite a few similar two-story weatherboard houses with hip roofs; does anyone know the name of this architectural style ? In Kentucky, a little old curve like that wouldn't warrant all of those warning signs; they figure a two-hundred-dollar car wrapped around one of those trees would be just one less meth-head on the welfare rolls. Notice the classic I-H LoadStar behind the house. 39° 03' 51.31" North Latitude 83° 41' 26.20" West Longitude Elevation: 1,064' Photo Taken through the glass of a Moving Vehicle Eastbound US Hwy 62 Mowrystown, Ohio Highland County Sunday_19-December-2021
