For the last few years, I have done very little photography or creations in Photoshop Elements. I had to buy a new computer 1 year ago and purchased Elements 2021 for it since Windows 10 would not let me install Elements 7. What a shock-going from Elements 7 to 21 after having used 7 very little in the past few years! I feel like a beginner. I was a member of Photoshop Elements User forum until it closed. I learned so much there. I am happy to be here and see some familiar names. I am looking forward to participating and learning (and relearning) new skills. Martha

My advice - be patient with yourself. It will come back - even if not as quickly as you wish.

Hi Martha, welcome to PSE&M! Glad you found us. Using Elements is like learning how to ride a bicycle; one never forgets and it all comes back. Despite the interface changes, the tools/features removed, the new ones added, etc, its "core" remains the same. I'm sure you will do just fine. You came to the right place for all things Elements. Just post and we will come to the rescue. Help is only one post away. As a side note, . . . I'm surprised Elements 7 didn't install on Windows 10. I have this version installed on two computers (Windows 10 Pro). No problems whatsoever! If you would like to install it, post on the Photoshop Elements Editor board and we will help you.

Windows 10 would not let me install Elements 7. Welcome to you. A relative had the same problem with her Windows 10 machine; Windows won't allow installing anything that is not in the Windows store whatever. There is a program you can install that will knock all that foolishness in the head and then you can install anything you wish. I highly suggest you do that and then install your Elements 7; you can also then install many other FREE very useful programs, such as FastStone. I don't think installation of any of the FREE programs is possible otherwise. Do a search and I am sure the information and program I speak of will come up. I think this problem only plagues certain versions of Windows 10 and other versions will allow installation of "outside" programs.

Welcome martha100Lots of helpful people here. What Sepiana said is quite correct ... Despite the interface changes, the tools/features removed, the new ones added, etc, its "core" remains the same. You will have no problems finding your way around PSE 2021. Some learning for sure, but the newer versions do have a few features that are better then the older versions. Enjoy your new software. Clive

Welcome Martha! Although I am not new to the forum, I have been away for quite a while and, like yourself, need to reacquaint myself with many aspects of PSE. If you run into problems or issues the folks here on the forum will be all too glad to assist.

Thank you for all of your encouraging replies! I do appreciate them all.
It's odd about Elements 7. When I purchased the new computer about 13 months ago, I installed Elements 7 and an old Quicken (along with other programs). I turned on the computer one day just 4 months after purchasing it and got the dreaded Blue Screen. To make a long, long story short, I ended up having to download and install a new Windows 10 (they said that the one preinstalled on the computer must be damaged). I did this and then was unable to install either the Elements 7 or the Quicken. I will look for the program you suggested, Pontiac. Thanks for the information.
I've done a little in Elements 2021 and will just have to spend more time with it. I did buy "Mastering Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 and it has been helpful. I want to get back to making greeting cards from some of my photos.
I am looking forward to participating! I always loved the weekly tutorials and challenges when I was active in Photoshop Elements User and I see that you have some here.
Again, thanks for the welcomes! Martha

I want to get back to making greeting cards from some of my photos. Hi Martha, Adobe did a "serious" overhaul of Elements in v11 and removed several features in v12. As you took a big jump from Elements 7 to Elements 2021, I would suggest you start by checking the Greeting Card feature (Create>Greeting Card). - You are given several options to add creative designs to your card (Pages, Layouts, Artwork, and Text). - Once you are done, you can take your card to Expert Edit for further customizing/editing. Here is more information on this feature -- Making photo projects (Help)

Thanks for that vote of confidence, Helen. Yes, I would truly enjoy helping you, Martha. I started my PSE career with greeting cards and I still love the process. I was just looking over my recent posts and there isn’t a lot about greeting cards. If you have a specific focus you want addressed, let me know and I’ll work up something. EDIT I posted an update -- about greeting cards
