Windows 11 task bar icon sizes

I installed Win 11 several months ago...all good. I set it up so the taskbar is where it should be ... on top. 
Until today the taskbar icons have been the "right' size. And File Explorer fonts/graphics have always been a suitable size.   
And now the taskbar icons are <½ inch high on the 4K monitor. (The red square Adobe reader is only 7 mm!! Just over ¼ inch!) And File Explorer display is smaller than before. 
I never messed with anything. I read how to go into the registry and fiddle to change the taskbar icon size. But gosh, I never did that to make them smaller. 

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Go to "Task Bar and Start Menu" Properties and make sure "Use Small Icons" is not checked.

One way to get there is right-click an empty space on the Desktop > Personalize and down in the bottom-left corner choose "Taskbar and Start Menu"

Another, probably quicker/easier way is choose "Taskbar and Start Menu" from the Control Panel.


Hopefully, it is as easy as that.

Alas, those options do not apply to Win 11. 
I sucked it up and did go into the registry bowels and oddly the setting for taskbar size was set at the correct # for large. 
I have no idea what changed and there is no recent update. 
The taskbar, Explorer and even the control panel itself are far too small. For example, the CAPS in the green text (control panel) as show in the screen shot are just 2 mm high.

Partial success ... 
I reset this. I was playing with it for sure.
BUT the open "tab" sizes are tiny as are the explorer font sizes and icons and other fonts. The control panel has increased in size.

More improvement. This helped especially File Explorer.  But tab text in still bacteria sized.
