I've been sent this photo to use in a poster advertising a talk. Although it is 300dpi it is appallingly pixelated. Is there anything I can do to make it acceptable or do I have to go back to the originator and ask for a better copy?
It doesn't look like I've got the hang of posting a photo either.
Edit to say that much to my surprise it worked!

Hi ChrisAnn, Above I see an image and a little icon that is labeled pixelated pic. You mention that it is 300dpi....but when I downloaded and opened it in photoshop it came in as: If I changed it to 300dpi it is a very tiny picture. I did try noise reduction using Topaz AI but the results aren't satisfactory. Do the sizes I posted coincide with what you have? If they do, I would think that you will have to ask her for another picture or to send you a larger image. If you do have the larger picture at 300dpi, perhaps you could try to post it again. Perhaps someone else might have some advice to offer.

go back to the originator and ask for a better copy Yes, that would be good. Looks like a poor scan of a print? For a large poster this is unlikely to work well. Clive

I think Clive has hit on what has happened, it must have been scanned at 300 resolution but from a poor printed copy. The original (I've changed the name of the file) claims to be 760 x 1008 px at 300 resolution. I'd had a try with Elements but couldn't make an improvement so will bight the bullet and ask for another photo. Fortunately she's a friend of a friend so I can rope them in to take a decent photo with a decent camera.
Thanks for your help Clive and Helen.

I was curious to see if Topaz Gigapixel could help this image...I think it did somewhat. So, just in case you can't get a better version, ChrisAnn, here's the adjusted version.

Apparently Vicki and I were thinking along the same lines! I used 2X Topaz Gigapixel along with some other enhancements using NIK CEPro5 and the ACR filter in Photoshop 2022. I hope it may be of some use.

Pete, Great edit! After I posted it, I said to myself that it needed more work for contrast and color. BUT, I didn't go there. Glad you did! Great job.

If you have a Mac, you can look into Pixelmator Pro, a Mac-only program that has an excellent AI resizer. Pixelmator is neat software that has lots of capabilities including layers. It also becomes a plug-in in Apple Photos to give full editing right in Photos. Like most apps today there is a free trial available.
