The hollyhocks are just really getting started. This year, we are getting several colors. This is trying something out, so comments helpful, please! My son lets me borrow/use/co-use some of his equipment, a 90mm Macro in this case. Curiously, the Auto Selection Select Subject tab could not find most of these flowers, even if centered! Strange! But using a rectangle did! It's magic that I don't understand for sure. cjt

I agree with Janice...this would make a lovely greeting card. I especially like how you have used the flowers for the background. Looking closely at your image it appears that some masking might have helped you get rid of some "unwanted" areas. Not sure how well this can be addressed after the fact but I may try to see if cloning and patching etc. could possibly help. Perhaps some other members will also give this a try. We all learn from posts like this. TFS, cjt.

This would make a lovely greeting card. The select subject may have had a hard time selecting the subject as parts of you background are as shape as your subject. As Helen mentioned the image has unwanted areas (distracting Elements). I was not sure where you wanted the viewer to look as you have a lot of competing elements.

That is a terrific clean-up, fotofrank! Since this board is all about learning from each other could you share a little information as to how you achieved your results?

Looks like Frank and I were posting at the same time!
I used the eraser tool to get rid of the dark green. I moved the bottom layer up so that the yellow was now filling in the hole left by the eraser and masked it in. For the white flower to the left, I selected it separately and worked to clean it up. I then duplicated that flower and blurred the one underneath. Masked to get a better edge. Added a white layer on top of this flower and reduced opacity...masked in the darker center part......**** I must have merged those layers as I don't see those steps above. Cloned in the part on the other purple flower.
Finally did a lot of edge clean-up with the spot healing tool....it worked great.
Hope that helps some. I get scattered when I try to remember what I did!

Again, thanks for detailed information! fotofrank, I do have one question. Did you make the changes just using brushes?? cjt

The work was done using multiple layers to separate the flowers from the background, Blur and add a vignette to the background, Clone stamp to add to the flowers and remove elements. A Hue Saturation adjustment to change the color - I did use a brush on the mask to apply the color change to just one flower.
