It would be easy enough for me to get water pictures but I wanted to find a "thing" that was mostly blue. Then remembered this piece of equipment.

The fire hydrants around here recently got repainted to conform to the American Water Works Association standard where the colour of the bonnet tells firefighters what the maximum water flow is. Blue is the highest at >1500 gpm, followed by green (1000 to 1499 gpm) orange (500-1499) red (<500} and black (not working!). So here's a freshly painted maximum flow hydrant (and some more blue chicory growing just behind it). Tony

tonyw, thanks for the lesson in fire hydrant colors. Not sure if the US is the same as Canada, but I always wondered why the fire hydrants in my community were painted blue. If it's consistent between our two countries, this is the highest water flow, which is weird, since all our homes have low flows. Hmmm...I think something is afoot! By the way...I like your shot of complementary colors!

Not sure about the rest of Canada but in Ontario the colour coding requirement is relatively recent and is still in process of being implemented (I think that hydrant was just plain yellow until earlier this year). And Ontario just adopted the US standard which has been around for a long time. We even adopted the US gallon for the flow measurement even though our Imperial Gallon is bigger that your gallon and officially we're metric (but 5,678 L/min isn't as easy to remember as 1500 gpm ) Tony

Most of our rose blooms get quickly scorched by our hot summer sun but I was able to salvage a few smaller ones today; Paul Neyron (the pink Hybrid Perpetual) and Climbing Don Juan (the red Climbing Hybrid Tea).
(Used BLUE vessels of course)

I did not have to look far this morning to find blue - in this case the cloudless blue sky over our back garden which signals an oncoming heatwave. Dennis Dennis, perfect! Mother Nature was on your side -- a cloudless blue sky. I like how you included a bit of green (foliage) at the bottom of the frame. Our eyes rest on it before moving up towards that uninterrupted sheet of blue.

Blue is my favorite color. Lots to choose from in the kitchen but went with these blue canisters. Good choice. Blue is the predominant color on these canisters. Nice composition, abiding by The Rule of Odds. One more as I couldn't pass up this blue car this morning.... Glad you didn’t! This car is a beauty in blue. Nice finding.

Due to resent new driving laws in regards to cyclists thought Id catch up on my highway code. Jim, great finding! Your subject does have a lot of blue and just a bit of yellow and white sneaking in. Well done!

Little Blue Parts and Big Blue Parts, same distance to the Bins of Blue Parts cjt, two great shots! Very effective composition, with the blue subject filling up the frame in both images.
