Can someone tell me the correct name of this kind of multiple recessed framing and where I can find a tut on how to create it in PSE 8 and/or 13. I took this photo off my TV screen when I saw it during a program on Rembrandt paintings. Thanks.

This looks very similar to an action that fotofrank made. Have a look at the Creative Ch 66 to see how it looks. Scroll down the page to see it applied to several different images. Creative Effect Ch No 66

Creative Effect Ch No 66Okay. Thanks Lillias. I tried one using Frank's written directions but will look into his action sometime also.

Can someone tell me the correct name of this kind of multiple recessed framing I can't imagine it's anything other than copies of a frame stacked and resized using the move tool - I think the depth is more an optical illusion that an actual step in the process.

I think the depth is more an optical illusion that an actual step in the process. In fotofrank's tutorial and action, the depth is created by applying two layer styles -- Inner Shadow and Stroke. 5. On the top layer add an inner shadow and stroke from the styles tab. 6. Once the styles are applied to the top layer, while holding down the Alt (PC or Option key (MAC) click and hold on the fx and drag it to the layer below. You should now have the styles applied to two layers. 7. Repeat step 6 for the remaining layers – not the background layer. 8. Your Done – as a note you can go back and add to or adjust the Layer styles at anytime by double clicking on the fx
