I was trying to clean out the Temp folders and ran across some files and folders that it would not allow me to delete; it said they were currently in use by Adobe Genuine Monitor Service.
All programs were closed during this endeavor.
What is this Adobe Genuine Monitor Service; what, if anything, is it doing for me; and, is it okay if I get rid of it ?

Thanks for that; I will check it out and get that mess uninstalled; I have enough stuff running in the background.

I will check it out and get that mess uninstalled You may not be able to access these Help files. Something is going on with the Adobe servers; the Help links are being redirected. This problem is being discussed in this thread. Sometimes copying/pasting the link on a new tab does the trick. helpx.adobe.com/uk/genuine/uninstall-adobe-genuine-service.html In case it doesn't work for you, here is the screenshot of the Adobe instructions how to uninstall the Genuine Monitor Service.

Thanks for the screenshot.
Well....., I have ran into a bit of a snag; Adobe Genuine Service does not display in Programs and Features.
It is there somewhere, as it will not allow me to delete all those Temp files, saying it is using them.
Now I guess I get to figure out how to find and delete hidden programs.

Adobe Genuine Service does not display in Programs and Features. I don't understand why it doesn't. Here is what I see when I go via the Control Panel. Now I guess I get to figure out how to find and delete hidden programs. I will save you some legwork. Here is the path to get to that file. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AdobeGCClient\AGMService.exe

Thanks for that; I was fixing to go into the registry to find it; I had looked everywhere except Common Files.
It is just a exe file and I see no uninstaller file to go with it; is it going to be so simple as just deleting that exe file ?

You can go ahead and delete .exe files, but that won't likely remove the whole program. BuckSkin - What is your main concern here? The space taken up by the temp files, or the existence of the Adobe program? I wouldn't get too worried about the temp files that you can't delete - I wouldn't expect them to take up much space. As for the Adobe program, you may need that installed. If you want to try doing it, then I could provide some tips. If you really want to remove the temp files, then try these options: 1) Open Services and Stop the Adobe Genuine Monitor service. Then try the deletion; or 2) Boot into Safe Mode

Thanks, Andy, for the tips.
My reasons for wanting rid of it are I don't need any more unnecessary things running in the background and I can see no reason for it being there.
I figure it piggybacked in with some Adobe program or other that I installed.

But, Buckskin, don't you realize that Adobe is just looking out for your safety out of an abundance of love and concern for your computer efficiency?! The fact that they are concerned about your possiblity using "less than genuine" Adobe software is a feature!
