I have used the Polygonal Lasso tool in Elements 13 many times and never had a problem with it. Starting yesterday, after I select the subject with it and press "enter" to connect the entire moving ants selection, instead of giving me the actual selection that I made it gives me a lopsided (sort of pear-shaped) selection that doesn't even circumvent the entire subject. How can I correct this problem? Thanks.

You have 'feather' on something other than 0

Just a quick question - what is your Feather set to?

Feather is set to 120. What is the normal "best" setting I should set it on? I just changed it to 60 per Janice's screenshot , which helped but still didn't completely display as I had drawn it. Is zero the default/best to use?

Sorry for the misguided screenshot. That was only to show you that you can set it to something other than 0.
However, You only increase the pixel size when you want the selection to get softer.
Set it to zero for preciseness.

Thanks Janice and Frank. Yeah, I just changed it to zero before I checked back here and it worked now.

Thanks Janice and Frank. Yeah, I just changed it to zero before I checked back here and it worked now. Jim, glad to hear it worked. Thanks cats4jan and fotofrank! That makes sense! Once you changed the Feather to zero you "reset" the Polygonal Lasso tool to its default settings. You fixed its "misbehavior". Now some information on Feather for a rainy day. See When Feathering Warns You . . .
