Thanks Helen and Judy. What makes this photo stand out is not so much the colorful glove but the background behind the glove. It is somewhat darker and soft.

Granny would run a string through our coat-sleeves and across our back (inside the coat) and use a big darning needle to attach each end of the string to the appropriate glove or mitten, leaving just enough slack to put the gloves on or take them off; there were thirty-some-odd of us grand-kids and none of us ever lost a glove.
