We saw some great photos of people at work last month thanks to Helen's great challenge! For this month, the Challenge is: Architectural Details. Not the entire building (or bridge, or tower, etc.)…just the details, please! Details can be small or large, depending on the architecture it’s part of…so just don’t show us the entire structure. It’s your photo, so your choice! Here are a couple of samples to start you off.
The decorative top of the carousel house in Asbury Park, NJ:
Something to look at while waiting for tickets to visit The Top of the Rock, NYC:
I'm looking forward to seeing what you all find for this challenge!!!

Certainly a lot of leeway with this topic, Vicki. Should be interesting. Looking through the archives I came up with these two. The Morgan Library Rotunda in NYC. Westfries Museum in Hoorn Netherlands.

Got us off to a great start, Helen and Tony! Helen, those are very ornate details. I especially like the rotunda. Tony...who doesn't love a gargoyle? Great that you were looking up! Hope others are up for the challenge.

A couple I pulled out of my archives:
The Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles; built in 1925. The second floor of an old building I saw in downtown L.A. several years ago.

United States National Bank Building. If you're not up on your colonnade, this one is Corinthian. Fuji X100V, ISO 640, f/5 , 1/125 sec. BW in camera, contrast bump in ACR. It's a magnificent building and the full Wikipedia on it is here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_National_Bank_Building Shot this morning ... thanks for the challenge Vicki!

Originally part of the Queen Anne style GTR railway station - now the public library. This is the roof of one of the two turret rooms at each end of the main building. Originally this was the roof of the ladies waiting room - the gentlemen occupied the equivalent at the opposite end of the station! Tony

Bolton Priory, North Yorkshire, England. Founded 1154, closed 1539 in Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. Remains are open to the public.

WOW...what a great response to this challenge! --Jim, what an interesting theme the Park Plaza Hotel has...is it Art Deco? You captured the 'feel' of it beautifully. And I can see why you were attracted to that second story of the unnamed building. Great details! --Billz, I followed the link and have to say, your shot is SO much better than their straight-on shot. Great way to see the details! --Tony...wonderful detail of the roof. I really like the back-story about the ladies' and men's waiting rooms. When was this station built? --Howard, you helped to create a mini-theme of gargoyles, I see. That building has a LOT of history behind it. Some of my favorite historical novels were about that time period, so this really appeals to me. --Judy, you really excel at these detail shots! It's hard to believe that beautiful roof in the first image is really a barn, though. Is the interior shot in the third image from the same barn? (I like the covered bridge detail, as well.)

Ooh, Judy, I love Shelburne Farm. I've only been there once but it's impressive! We has a great brunch in their restaurant, too!

Dan, I love how you processed this b/w to show all the details. I'm not a huge Downton Abbey fan, but am impressed with this one! 😀 Love the point of view.

--Tony...wonderful detail of the roof. I really like the back-story about the ladies' and men's waiting rooms. When was this station built? Thanks VickiD . It was built in 1903 and closed in 1927 - a victim of cars and roads taking over. surprisingly outwardly the building looks virtually identical today as it did in 1903. Tony
