The Hanging TreeThe Hanging Tree is a 1959 American Western film directed by Delmer Daves, based on the novelette The Hanging Tree, written by Dorothy M. Johnson in 1957. Karl Malden took over directing duties for several days when Daves fell ill. The film stars Gary Cooper, Maria Schell, George C. Scott and Malden, and it is set in the gold fields of Montana during the gold rush of the 1860s and 1870s.I edited this photo. There was a barbed wire fence along the top of the hill and in the 1860s in Montana there were probably no fences. So the fence was removed. There is also a conflict in the tree itself because there is no large side limb that is free from branch clutter. A hanging tree would need to have one large limb that was free of clutter.

I am beginning to think you may be able to find a movie for just about anything. No doubt!!  You will all remember the 1940 blockbuster movie, Primrose Path   en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primrose_Path_(film)Primrose Path is a 1940 film about a young woman determined not to follow the profession of her mother and grandmother, prostitution. It stars Ginger Rogers and Joel McCrea. The film was based on the play of the same name by Robert L. Buckner and Walter Hart and the novel February Hill by Victoria Lincoln (uncredited for legal reasons).[2]
Marjorie Rambeau was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
A bit of snow here last night that is mostly gone now. A path in the snow.  |

THE BIRDS The Birds is a 1963 American natural horror-thriller film produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Thanks to whippet for the suggestion!  Notes: 1) Despite my entries I do not watch movies. I think the last movies I saw were Finding Nemo, Babe and Charlotte's Web ... all with the grandkids. Seriously, I watch no movies or TV shows, except some news (gag) and The Great British Baking Show! I catch the odd bit of what my wife is watching. 2) Sort of ironic. That is a European starling in a Russian olive tree. Both invasives from Europe. European Starling The most common and the worst nuisance bird species in North America is the European Starling. They are considered to be an invasive species.
Russian olive The Russian Olive tree is considered a highly invasive species in some parts of the United States and Canada. However, it is used as an ornamental tree (such as in our neighbours' yard) but I think no longer sold by nurseries. |

Thanks for the list of movie titles for the non-movie crowd Sepiana. I looked through them for ideas but instead came up with plan B which was to drive to the local movie theatre and use whatever was now playing as my theme.  My first thought was to go into my closet and photograph my Gucci shoes and accessories, but then I realized that I was thinking of someone else's closet and that I'd probably end up in some kind of trouble again. I went to the mall instead thinking that even if the Gucci store was closed for Thanksgiving, the mall would be open for walkers and I could shoot the sign or maybe through the inside windows. Wrong and wrong. So here is the exterior Gucci sign along with a shot through the exterior window and security gate.   I'll try to balance my fear of malls and black Friday sales with my quest for a better image and go back tomorrow. I really wish that "Toy Story" had been playing at the theatre. |
