Red Barn w/Overhead Doors
Located on the South side of KY Hwy 80. Several barns in this community have - often mismatched - overhead garage doors. Way back when I was a kid, I was told that the man who owned Somerset Garage Door lived in this community and those numerous mis-matched overhead doors were "scratch & dent" seconds.

Two Black Barns
Located on the South side of KY Hwy 80. Notice the brand-new plank fence that hasn't even been painted yet. Like many barns in this community, the nearest barn has an overhead door.

Old Black Barn
Located on the South side of KY Hwy 80; this barn has been a landmark since I was a child; I can remember when it looked brand-new.
I seem to remember it having an overhead garage door in the end that we cannot see.

This is a good example of the perils of through-the-windshield photography.

Located at the top of Walnut Hill on the West side of US127 is Price Farm silo.
When they built the new road, it split this farm, leaving the house and several barns on the East side and this barn and silo on the West side.
The old route passed on the East side of the farm.

Pelley's Sharp-All Barn
Located on the East side of US127, just North of Dunnville. Back in the early 2000s, this housed Pelley's Sharp-All. I have taken several sets of planer knives to be sharpened here. He kept a big old red man-eating dog chained to the leg of an old metal desk; the dog would lunge at you as you walked by and scoot the desk with each lunge.

The Haggard Barns
Owned by the Haggard family for several generations. Brothers Howard Haggard (Haggard I-H International Harvester dealership and Gateway Realty and Auction), J.R. Haggard (James Rass), and Tony Haggard; Sons of Aaron Cecil (A.C.) Haggard.
The near barn was built in 1954/55; it is 124' long x 60' wide.
The far barn was built in 1946; it is 66' long x 62' wide.
HERE are the same barns five years earlier on 31-October-2016.

The Barns of Faulkner Road Saturday__12-May-2018Photo Taken from the Side of New(1994) US127Faulkner Road - South US Hwy 127 - Casey County - Kentucky
Faulkner Road is on the West side of US127; on the South side of Walnut Hill; paralleling US127 between Calhoun Creek and US127.
Several years ago, pre-1994, Faulkner Road was US127.
These scenes look like something from the cover of a 1960s Progressive Farmer magazine. Saturday__12-May-2018
On Saturday, 13th of May, 2023, I passed by here on the new(1994) US127, traveling North, enroute to the tractor show at Liberty; from the corner of my eye, I got a glimpse of a trackhoe that appeared to be dismantling one of these barns.
So, on Monday, 15th of May, 2023, myself and Cindy drove back up here to investigate.
It was worse than I imagined, as almost every one of these historic structures is either gone or in the process of being gone.
Photos taken from a Moving Vehicle on Faulkner Road. Monday__15-May-2023
This huge old cattle barn, 100' long and 120' wide, complete with silo, stood here next to KY35 and later US127 and was a familiar landmark.
It is hard to believe now that it is the same barn as that in the first three photos.
The back third has been demolished and the rest will soon follow. Monday__15-May-2023 Next four photos.=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= 90% of the impact of this scene is due to that beautiful silo. Seen here, two years later, from the gate at the dead-end of Murphy Valley Road, 636 yards from camera to silo.
Calhoun Creek is in the foreground. Saturday__17-October-2020
And now, that beautiful silo is reduced to a pile of concrete rubble.
Another piece of America gone.....

This big pretty white farmhouse, with the original part of the structure just as solid and square as the day it was built, has been reduced to ashes and the remains buried right where she stood; there is no evidence that it ever existed. Saturday__17-October-2020

And a satellite view screenshot to exhibit how the barn is built right on top of the old road:
As of Monday, 15th of May, 2023, this barn and the Calhoun Creek barn were the only two in this valley still standing; everything else has been demolished.=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= Standing in the gate at the dead-end of Murphy Valley Road and looking down Calhoun Creek's meandering path to Green River, 1.05 mile as the Crow flies from where I am standing. Saturday__17-October-2020
As of Monday, 15th of May, 2023, out of more than a dozen, there were only two barns still standing in this valley, this one and the one that is built on the pavement of old US127.
This barn stands on the West bank of Calhoun Creek and is accessed via Murphy Valley Road.
Notice the loading chute in the door on the right/North corner.
This barn also has a hay loft. Monday__15-May-2023=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= =x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= I hope you guys enjoyed this visit to Faulkner Road

Always sad to see the loss of old homes, barns, structures etc. that were a reminder of days past. Kind of special that you have pictures of them and will be able to share with others who share your interest in the past.

Powell Road - Eastern Adair County - On the West side of Powell Road on the North bank of Russell CreekSaturday_25-May-2024Very Rare Round Roof BarnThe rise in the ground between me and the barn hide the fact that the sliding doors you see are actually the loft doors; the ground level doors are below them and not visible in the picture.
The barn is 92-feet long; so, that should give an idea of just how tall it really is.
It is 435-yards, exactly 1/4-Mile, from the camera to the barn.
I have to wonder how they nailed on the metal roof one 8-foot-long sheet at a time.
